Apache County, Arizona is unusual in being a Gore country county that has not gone on to be a Democratic country county in any subsequent election.

Bill Clinton was already doing very well historically in most of these places in 1996. Gore experienced particularly noteworthy boosts ( > 3%) relative to Bill Clinton in 1996 in San Francisco (+3.30%), Alameda County (+3.59%), Marin County (+6.3%), Los Angeles County (+4.13%), Wyandotte County (+4.2%), Prince George's County (+5.98%), Baltimore City (+3.2%), Sioux County (+12.6%), Petersburg City (+4.5%), and King County (+3.44%). (Nationally, Gore did 0.8% worse than Bill Clinton in 1996.)
